I miss you, Eva, and the good old days of German class...never thought I'd say I missed school...hmmm..and I'm still AT school...just on the other side of the desk...maybe that's why I miss being a student. Go figure. Take care...LOVE your site!

hmm...well, we both (all of us?) there are some point at the same time! but your names don't ring any bells for me, either :o) i've never met ben y in person, though i do remember him (and his dramatic exploits)from school. I'd linked to the bensfriends site through my friend melanie's blog (see sidebar) and really enjoyed the discussions/etc that were going on there. i checked out BigBlueHat and hoped they could et me up with my own blog (I wasn't expecting to appear on bensfriends, but ben turned out to be an extreemly friendly guy ;o) One of my main goals was to communicate about the Boston ministry, which he seemed to like, and so he hooked me up to Wordpress, for which I am truly thankful.

no problemo. yep, i did undergrad at BJ from 98-2002 in Bible, then got an MA in Bible from 02-04. my last name is Morris. i had two older brothers who also went to BJ, Keith (94-98, Music Ed) and Steve (96-98, Journalism). my wife Cathy, whose maiden name is Anderson, went from 97-2001 as a Political Science major/technical writing minor. she's an editor at BJ Press right now.

kind of funny to see the last 6 years of my life condensed into one blurb there, but that's about it. i was curious to see who you were (in your "i know you're curious" post :-), but your picture didn't ring any bells. speaking of curious, i was wondering what your connection to Ben Y. is. he's the one that got me into all of this to start with. we were in the dorms together and became friends.

well, i know how you got the impression about me being a Collier, but actually i'm just a good friend. Evan Collier is indeed planning on a church plant (currently looking at Malden or Lynn) and we're planning on planting it together. we're the beginning of the team which we hope will grow as the day gets closer. and i think ev does know the Landries, though i'm not positive about that. evan was on a survey trip in the summer. he visited many pastors and explored several 'burbs.

actually, david, i was just reading through these comments and realized you have a bensfriendsblog that i've checked out many times. after looking at it again, i think i figured out that you're a collier. is this right??? and, if so, i think my pastor actually mentioned the possability of you (or your brother? some other collier altogether?) starting a church plant up in the Boston area. he has no university associations per se, but he'd heard that through some source and mentioned it to me because i'm a bj grad. i think he said that this colloer was looking to start a ministry in malden or maynard or some other 'm' suburb of Boston??? Is this you??? I just think it's funny how many strange (in a good way) connections I keep making through this whole experience...Do you know the Landries by any chance?

okay, mels, mels it is :o)

well, david, that is incredible news. my feeling about Boston at the moment is that once you come and get involved in ministry, it's hard to leave. i grew up about 30 min. west of the city and had visited Boston here and there, but was never really tied to it until i got involved in a ministry here in spring of last year. i was scheduled to head out in january, but here I am moving in! there's much to love about boston, but, spiritually, it is about as cold to the gospel and as liberal as you can get; and yet in the 6 months that i've been here i've seen our international student bible study grow in audience by 50%, several couples and singles join the church, genuine conversions accompanied by beautifully changed lives, and 2 baptisms. most of the people who attend our sunday evening studies are international students from china, and come faithfully, asking thoughtful doctrinal questions, but as of yet have not made personal professions of faith. some have recently been saved and baptized, and some of us are long-time believers only recently relocated in boston. it's a hugely exciting ministry that thrives on personal relationships. there's so much i can say about it, and i hope to post specific entries about the church, it's members, and ministries soon. i'd love to hear more about your plans and what piqued your interest in boston! thanks for the welcome :o)
